Drift Parking
A busy car park, one free bay and a car that slides if you take the corners too fast. Park it neatly.
How to play Drift Parking
Each level puts you at the bottom of a car park. Somewhere ahead is a bay marked in glowing green with a spinning arrow above it. Drive into the bay, line the car up with the bay, and come to a stop. The bay turns yellow when you are in the right position. Hold still for a moment and the level is done.
You can park nose-in or reverse in, whichever is easier. All four corners of the car have to be inside the lines.
Controls
| Action | Phone or tablet | Computer |
|---|---|---|
| Accelerate | Hold Gas | ↑ or W |
| Brake and reverse | Hold Back | ↓ or S |
| Steer | Hold ◀ or ▶ | ← → or A D |
Back works as a brake while you are moving forward. Keep holding it once the car stops and you start reversing.
Scratches
Bumping into a parked car, a cone or the kerb at speed leaves a scratch. Three scratches and the level starts again. Gentle touches at walking pace do not count, so you can nudge your way into a tight spot.
Level types
- Front bays: a row of bays straight ahead. The easiest kind, and how the game starts.
- Side bays: the row runs along the side of the lot, so you need to swing the car round.
- Parallel parking: a gap along the kerb between two cars. Reversing in is usually easiest.
Bays get narrower and more cones appear as you level up. Your level is saved, so you can come back later and carry on.
Stars
You earn three stars for parking with no scratches in under 40 seconds. Each scratch, or taking longer, costs a star.
Tips
- Slow down before the bay. The car slides sideways if you steer hard at high speed, which is fun in open space and painful near other cars.
- Line up early. Get the car straight a few metres before the bay, then roll in.
- For parallel parking, pull up level with the front car, then reverse while steering towards the kerb, and straighten up as you go in.
- If you overshoot, reverse. There is no penalty for taking a second go at the bay.
