City Rush

One yellow taxi, a city full of traffic and a clock that never stops. Pick them up, drop them off, and squeeze every dollar out of your shift.

How to play City Rush

Passengers wait at the kerb, waving, under a tall beam of light. The white arrow above your taxi points to the nearest one. Drive up next to them and slow down: they hop in by themselves. Now the arrow turns the colour of their fare and points to the drop-off, marked by a ring and a beam of the same colour. Pull up inside the ring and slow down to let them out.

Your shift starts with 70 seconds on the clock. Every passenger you deliver adds more time, so the better you drive, the longer you keep going. When the clock reaches zero, your shift is over and your takings are your score.

Fares and tips

  • Green: short hop. A quick ride a few blocks away.
  • Yellow: cross town. Further, and pays more per block.
  • Red: long haul. Across the whole city for the biggest fare.

Each passenger gives you a time limit for a tip. Arrive in time and you earn the fare plus a tip for every second to spare, and a few extra seconds on the clock. Every crash dents the fare, so mind the traffic.

Bonus cash

  • Drifts: take a corner fast enough to slide and you leave skid marks behind. Passengers love it and pay a little extra for every drift.
  • Close calls: zip past another car at full speed without touching it.

Tips

  • Green fares are quick time boosts. Red fares are worth it when you have time in the bank.
  • Brake before you reach the drop-off ring rather than overshooting it.
  • Traffic drives on the right and stops behind slower cars. Overtake on the open side of the road.
  • Buildings stop you dead. Cut corners through the intersection, not across the pavement.
