Marble Maze

The classic wooden tilt maze, rebuilt in 3D. Guide the marble through the walls to the green goal.

How to play Marble Maze

You do not move the marble directly. You tilt the whole board, and gravity does the rest. The marble starts in the top-left corner. Roll it to the glowing green hole marked with a flag to finish the level.

The marble picks up speed the longer the board stays tilted, and it bounces off walls. Small, gentle tilts give you the most control.

Levels and holes

Every level is a new maze. Mazes start at 4 by 4 squares and grow as you progress, up to 11 by 11. Bigger mazes have a few loops, so there can be more than one route.

From level 3, trap holes with red rims appear in side passages. Roll into one and the marble drops through the board and goes back to the start. Holes are never placed on the shortest route to the goal, so a careful player can always avoid them.

Stars

Finishing fast earns more stars. Each level has a target time based on its size: beat it for three stars, or finish within almost twice the target for two. Your progress and stars are saved in your browser, and you can continue from your last level next time.

Tips

  • Tilt, then level out. Let the marble roll on its own speed rather than holding the tilt all the way.
  • Use walls to stop. Rolling into a wall at a corner is often faster than braking.
  • Trace the route with your eyes before you start moving. The timer only matters for stars.
  • Near a hole, tilt slightly away from it so the marble hugs the opposite wall.

Questions

Can I tilt my phone to play?

Not at the moment. Most browsers ask for special permission to read the phone's motion sensors, so we use drag controls that work everywhere.

How many levels are there?

As many as you can play. Each level number always makes the same maze, so you can replay a favourite and compare times.
