How to play Word Guess
Type any real five-letter word and press Enter. Each letter then changes colour:
- Green: the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
- Yellow: the letter is in the word but in a different spot.
- Grey: the letter is not in the word at all.
Use the clues to narrow it down and find the word in six guesses or fewer. If a letter appears twice in your guess but only once in the answer, only one copy lights up.

Daily word and practice
The daily word is the same for everyone and changes at midnight. Solve it on consecutive days to build a streak, and copy your coloured result grid to share without spoilers. Unlimited practice gives you a fresh random word as often as you like and does not affect your streak.
Tips
- Start with a word that has common letters and different vowels, such as CRANE, SLATE or AROSE.
- Use your second guess to test new letters rather than to repeat the ones you have found.
- Remember that letters can repeat: words like APPLE and SHEEP catch many players out.
- Grey keys on the keyboard show which letters you have ruled out.

Is Word Guess like Wordle?
Yes. It follows the same well-known rules: guess a five-letter word in six tries with green, yellow and grey clues. It is our own free version with a daily word and unlimited practice.
When does the daily word change?
At midnight in your local time. Everyone plays the same word on the same day.
Can I play more than once a day?
Yes. The daily word can be played once, but unlimited practice has as many words as you like.
Is it free?
